Down to the Algarve
I took a road trip with a friend this week down to southern Portugal, to a region called the Algarve. Lots of small hillside villages clustered around ancient castles, and a stunning coastline. It was great to check it all out, especially before the summer tourist crowds set in. I'm not making as much progress as I'd like on my latest novel, but I guess I can't complain too much. ;-) Here are some of the photos from the trip:

Cascais by Night
So far so good here in Portugal, where I'm staying with a friend in a village outside Lisbon called Cascais, checking out the local surroundings and getting some work done on my latest novel, Natalia. Last night I walked around the village and took a few photos.
This place definitely has a nice atmosphere when the sun goes down.
Tomorrow we head off on a three-day road trip around the south coast, then back here to figure out how long I want to stick around. Rent a room in Lisbon and do some writing here? Or off to Barcelona? Elsewhere? I'm not sure yet, but with options like these it's hard to complain. ;-)

No Cure - Free for the last time!
A few months ago I did a free promotion for No Cure for the Broken Hearted and it worked pretty well, so I decided to do it again. This is the last time, though, really! At least for this book anyway. So if you have any interest in picking up a copy for your Kindle, today and tomorrow would be a good time.
And thanks to the blog Free Kindle Books and Tips for the mention today! Anyone looking for other free Kindle books should head over there to peruse the listings on a regular basis. Thanks Michael Gallagher!

Made it to Portugal
I've arrived in sunny Portugal! The weather seems to have just turned, and it is nice and pleasant during the day and just a tad cool at night.
There's even surf here, though it was so big out where I rented a board at Guincho yesterday I very nearly got sucked out to sea by a rip current! I should have known better when all of the locals said it was too big to go out. Ah well, live and learn.
Now I just need to find some good cafes to write in and I'll be all set! Tomorrow it's off to check out Lisbon, 30 minutes away by train.

Off to Portugal
Well, after four months back here in the good ol' U.S.A., I'm off again! I'm heading to Portugal tomorrow to visit a good friend of mine who has been living there for the last few years. If figure, if I like it enough I'll stick around and maybe rent a place of my own in Lisbon to stay for the next few months. Either way I'm looking forward to checking the place out and settling in to some of the cafes there to get some writing done. I'm still plugging away on my latest novel, Natalia, and hope to have it ready in the next 4-6 weeks. What better place to finish it up than Lisbon, right? ;-) Hopefully I'll find some inspiration there. I'll try to check back in here soon with some photos!
