It's been a while since I updated this blog, but I'm happy to have some good news to report. First and foremost, I spent the past nine weeks undergoing daily radiation treatments for prostate cancer, and thankfully that is all behind me now, just in time for Thanksgiving. My treatments were in Denver, where I was staying with my sister, but now I'm back home in California for three months of rest and recuperation.
I grew up in Riverside, southeast of LA, but my family relocated to Laguna Beach more than 30 years ago, and for me this more than anywhere is my spiritual home.
Being back here this time of year is exceptionally nice, and the weather is cooperating. For this past week it has been in the 70s and 80s during the day, which is perfect beach weather. With that and family in town, I'm not getting much writing done. I didn't make so much progress during my treatment, either, but I'm planning to really focus on finishing my next novel, The Paris Conspiracy, during the month of December. What I have accomplished with it so far is looking quite promising, but I still have the last third of the book to go.
Mostly, right now, I'm just feeling incredibly grateful, to be alive, and done with my treatment, and back home during such a gorgeous time of year to be here. I hope that those of you who find your way to this blog has reasons of your own to be grateful, too, and that you are able to enjoy a healthy and happy holiday season.
