Cover Reveal for "London on Fire"

My designer, Damonza.com, finalized the cover for my latest Nathan Grant thriller, London on Fire, and I think it looks great!  This book will come out on August 20th, but you can check out the Amazon page now to see the description and pre-order a copy if you'd like.

I'm pretty happy with how this cover turned out, with the designer managing to keep the theme going from one to the next in the series. Now I just need to finish writing the book, but I'm past the halfway point and barrelling ahead! If all goes according to plan, this fourth book in the series will be out before you know it!

Old and New in Budapest

Hello from Budapest on a lovely spring day.  I'm here settled in for another spell, working on my latest Nathan Grant novel, "London on Fire."  I started coming here to Budapest all the way back in 2009 and have spent part of each year here ever since.  I find that it's a great place to write, with tons of atmospheric cafes and libraries to settle in and get my work done.

The first year I arrived, fourteen years ago now, I took a bunch of photos of some of the more run down sights in the city, but a lot of those places have been fixed up in the meantime.  As a result, I decided to make it a project to go around and take photos in the same places for a before and after view.  Here they are, I hope you enjoy them!

Greetings from Bali

Hi all, just a quick post from Bali, where I am spending this month escaping from winter and working on my novella, The Vienna Assignment.  I'm very nearly finished with this one, which follows Nathan Grant's first assignment with the CIA in a flashback story.  This one will be free for subscribers to my newsletter, so if you'd like to read it but haven't signed up, you can do so here.

Otherwise, I thought I'd post some shots of my work places over the past few days.  Working in paradise is not so bad.  Next stop is back to Budapest, though, so I'm trying to appreciate the warmth while I can.

This last shot is where I'm sitting as I right this, on the veranda of the little bungalow I'm staying in for one more night in Ubud.  It is quite nice, as you can see.  That's it for now, but keep an eye out for The Vienna Assignment in just a few more weeks!

Coming soon...

Happy holiday season to everyone, from cool and cloudy Southern California.  I'm here in Laguna Beach for a few months to spend time with family.  I'm thrilled to have wrapped up my latest Nathan Grant novel, The Berlin Connection, and have it out there in the wild.  So far the reviews are great, though as soon as one book is finished, it's time to move on to the next project!  As such, I thought I'd give an update on my plans for the series.

As I mentioned in my last post, next up I'm planning a novella that will be free for subscribers to my newsletter.  I've been busy sorting out the plot and I'm starting to make some good progress, with chapter one under way.

This book will be titled The Vienna Assignment and follow Nathan on his very first posting as a young CIA operative.  He's still wet-behind-the-ears, but as you can guess, he gets thrown into the mix quite quickly as things go terribly wrong right out of the gate.  Can he sort it all out and stay alive?  I hope to have it ready by the end of January, so you can find out then!

Last night I stayed up and put together a cover for the book (above), which I'm pretty happy with. This one will not be available anywhere else, so if you want to make sure you don't miss it, you can sign up here.  I tend to send out emails about once a month with the occasional giveaway and new release announcement.  Unsubscribe any time.

That's it for now, time for me to get busy writing this story!  Catch you later...

"The Berlin Connection" is out! What's next?

Hi all, I'm excited to announce that my latest Nathan Grant thriller, The Berlin Connection, is done and out there!  This one is available for Kindle on Amazon and finds Nathan once again traversing the globe as he tries to unwind another sinister plot.  Can he make it out of this one alive?  Read it now to see!

For those of you who are curious about what comes next for this series, I thought I'd give a preview.  First off, I need to format the paperback version of this one, but I will get to that this week.  As for an audio version, that might be a while.  Sales are a little slow on those, so I'm not in a big hurry.

When it comes to the next books planned, my idea is to write a novella about Nathan's first-ever assignment as a young operative with the CIA.  I'm still working out the details of the story, but I plan to give this novella away for free to anybody on my newsletter list.  I anticipate that this one will take me about three months or so to get done.  If you'd like to make sure you get your free copy, you can sign up here.

After that one is finished, then I'll move on to book four in the series.  I've teed this one up to have Nathan joining forces with Natalia Nicolaeva in London, but other than that I don't quite know the story yet.  I look forward to spending some time to sort it all out.  In the meantime, for anyone who downloads The Berlin Connection, happy reading and I hope that you like it!

In Memoriam

This is a hard one to write, and I'll keep it brief, but I wanted to post a few words about the one person on earth that I was closest to, and that was my dad, who passed away last month at the age of 85.

Richard Rosenberg was kind, whip-smart, funny, and always there when I needed him, no matter what.  He was also my most enthusiastic reader.  Months ahead of each release, he would start asking, "When is it going to be done?"  When I did finally have a draft, he was always the first reader, and I relied on his thoughtful comments as I went through my revisions.

As some of my readers here know, I'm close to releasing my latest Nathan Grant thriller, and I was really hoping I could get it done in time for my dad to read it.  I thought I was going to make it, but then his situation with pancreatic cancer deteriorated quickly.  I had a draft done, but he wasn't in any state to read it.  Instead, I sat by his hospital bed and told him the story, start to finish.

As it is, this is a devastating loss for me, and I'm still trying to process it and focus as much as I can on all of the great times we shared.  This book, though, is the first one I've ever written that my dad didn't get to read.  I don't know if there is a heaven, or an afterlife, but I'd like to think so, and that he is there, watching over me.  From the very beginning of my writing career, one of my goals was always to make my father proud.  I know that he was, and I was certainly always proud to be his son.  He is and will be deeply missed.
