Thanks to everyone who picked up a copy of
No Cure for the Broken Hearted while it was free, and especially to those who have plunked down the $2.99 since it went off the free list! I hope you like it! Since the book went back to the paid list two days ago, it has been rising up the Amazon bestseller lists (currently at #323), which is great to see. I hope everyone else who stops by is having a nice start to 2012 as well!
Hi Kenneth, I will be really interested to see how this goes for you. I have only just published my first novel on Kindle and was very wary of the Amazon Prime deal. As my sales in the US are miniscule, I'm wondering if I should try this, but worry about giving it away for free without any guarantees of further sales, especially as I have some local marketing plans to try first. I do have another idea but it's not fully formed yet. I'd like to see the theory in action before I make any committments.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the books.

Hi Linda, I have some real reservations about Amazon Prime as well, in the way they demand exclusivity. Unfortunately, they seem to be able to get away with it since they have near monopoly control of the market already. As far as going free, I've done it twice and had significant sales boosts each time. I'll probably end up caving in and adding my other book to Prime by the end of the month...
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your own book, too, and your marketing plans!
Kenneth
Hi Kenneth, you and other similar stories have inspired me to try something like this. I'm having a "Virtual Book Launch" this coming weekend 13th to 15th January, where I'll be "at home" on my blog, my facebook page and my Amazon Author page. My anthology "Wargeld & Other Stories" will be free to download during that time (I hope - providing I entered the information OK)
ReplyDeleteI don't mind the exclusivity because I haven't (yet) considered publishing elsewhere. I was more concerned about the perpetual borrow, and it gave me quite a turn once I had gone onto Kindle Select, to see my books priced at zero for US Amazon Prime customers.
Please drop by one or more of my venues and download Wargeldd & Other Stories whilst it's free. The more the merrier, I say.

Good luck with the launch, Linda! The borrows aren't such a bad deal, since Amazon is paying us for them. They announced today that the payment for December borrows will amount to $1.70 each. Not too bad. I'll drop by your blog tomorrow and check it out!
